4th Annual ASID vs. NARI Chopped Cooking Challenge Episode 1

|also 2020 BOD Elections & Sonoma Family Meal Joint Donation Drive*|

Once upon a time, there were 3 ladies who went to the NARI Remodeling Academy. And they were each assigned very hazardous duties but I took them all away from all that and now they work for me. My name is Charlie Chopped Challenge.

But these NARI Angels cannot take on this 5 ingredients case alone; they need the assistance of Bosley or “Boz”! He will continually remind the Angels that if they remain steadfast in solving this case on time, they will get a clue to finally see me in person.

Clyde Zaya, co-owner and chef of Bella Saratoga

Clyde Zaya, along with business partner, Claudio Nicosia, became owners of Bella Saratoga in June 2007 and have since brought their own experience to Bella Saratoga, making it a place where locals and even Sicilians and New York Italians will feel at home. Clyde is in charge of the kitchen. Clyde grew up in New York and worked in restaurants from the time he was 17. While he worked the kitchen, waited tables and cooked, he focused. Eventually he realized the goal of every chef: He bought one, then two restaurants of his own.

Laleh Imanverdi, owner and chef of Tulip Lolly Catering

Laleh brings years of culinary expertise to the table. Every dish is made with love and enthusiasm. She not only creates her own fabulous dishes, she also transforms traditional homemade recipes. They are complimented with innovative techniques and with a contemporary twist. Her deep and passionate affection for the art of cooking comes through in all her wonderful dishes. Having spent 11 years creating and recreating her catering company Tulip Lolly Catering, she honors hard work and consistency. Laleh is thankful for the journey. She’s extremely fortunate to begin her love of cooking around 5 years old in her grandma’s kitchen. She comes from generations of great cooks in her family. Says life without great cuisine is a life worth not living.

Louis Godoy, Synoptic real estate agent & former chef

Louis Godoy has an incredible 10+ years of real estate experience working for Synoptic Real Estate Group. He is also a breathtakingly diverse man. He was in the Marine Corps for 10 years and a chef for 23. Louis worked as a chef at Menara Moroccan Restaurant (when they earned a 4-star rating), Rue De Paris (where he decided to study pastry making), Sheraton in Monterey (as a pastry chef intern), Fairmont in Fan Francisco (as a cake maker intern), Roma Bakery (bread maker intern),  Red Lion Inn (as its first pastry chef), and Costco (bakery manager while studying law and later real estate). He was also the inaugural member of the San Francisco Pastry chef's Association. His love of public speaking and passion for visual art (photography, watercolor) helps him greatly in his real estate career. Louis also works with V.A. needs. He speaks Spanish which gives him an upper hand in the real estate environment and also volunteers at the Red Cross and those are only a few of his hobbies. He takes every opportunity he can to learn something new and he most assuredly will use them in his everyday life.

*HELPING THOSE IN NEED

NARI Silicon Valley and ASID California Peninsula are joining efforts to offer a donation [cash or check] to Sonora Family Meal [a 501c3 non-profit] for those families displaced by the recent 2019 Kincade wildfires.

The recent wildfires are a reminder of what Sonoma County residents experienced in October 2017. More than 5,000 homes were destroyed in a matter of hours, leaving thousands without a place to live. Though many of us have returned to “normal” life, recovery is a grueling and timely process for fire survivors. Many still live in temporary shelters, like RV’s or vacation rentals, traveling miles to work and school while rebuilding their lives. After serving our community more than 200,000 meals over the last two years, Sonoma is once again facing mass evacuations and the potential for long-term effects.

Sonoma Family Meal is raising funds to serve our community with locally-sourced ingredients over the long haul -- for as long as we are needed. We also need reserve funds for future emergencies.

Please consider supporting our ongoing work. We need your help, because after the emergency services are gone, SFM is still here serving chef-made meals to our residents no matter what their financial situation.
