The Program Committee of NARI Silicon Valley is conducting an evaluation of our chapter meetings to better understand what you value in your business and remodeling industry education. We will use these results to improve our programming and benefits.

Thank you to our meeting sponsor, Slaughterbeck Floors, Inc., as well as those members and guests who attended. This presentation was VERY WELL received by the attendees - one attendee described speaker, Fred Farris of The Aspire Institute - For Contractors, as one of the best presenters in years! This was another way NARI members and guests can expand their knowledge on how to Find, Hire & Keep Top Employees in a Challenging Hiring Market.

Some Key Takeaways:

  1. Understanding that Better Gross Profit is the key to better hiring and a heather business, More Profit with the staff you have as well as more cash flow to hire better.
  2. Better margins do not necessarily mean changing more, often it's profit leaks in our systems.
  3. Becoming more appealing to millennial's is key as they make up 37% of the workforce now and will make us 75% in the next 9 years.
  4. Build appealing comp plans to attract higher quality employees
  5. Implement a continuous hiring process instead of reactive hiring
  6. Find employees that are currently employed but dissatisfied with their current employer and passively looking for work with appealing adds
  7. Ask the right questions at the interview
  8. Have a constant review and leadership process to ensure employees know what is expected and are motivated to help the company succeed.

Luckily, there will be a full-day ASPIRE Institute workshop on December 4 in Palo Alto on Where Profit Really Comes From. See our Meetings page (https://narisv.org/meetinginfo.php?id=81&ts=1539994521) for registration, more details, and to get the NARI member discount code.
